Clarence’s Journey: From Shelter to Seeking a Loving Home Filled with Hugs and Companionship

Published on

Clarence, a charming four-year-old rescue dog, lives by the simple belief in treating everyone with kindness. For Clarence, this means offering hugs to all he encounters and holding onto his caregivers in the hope that they stay by his side.

At a shelter, Clarence, a golden retriever mix, crossed paths with two other abandoned dogs: a German shepherd and a Chihuahua mix. Naturally sociable, Clarence began tagging along with them.

Eventually, both Clarence and his German shepherd friend were taken in by animal control officials, who then informed Clarence’s original owner.

Sadly, when his owner chose not to reclaim him, Clarence was slated for euthanasia. Thankfully, Hounds In Pounds stepped in just in time to rescue both Clarence and the German shepherd, finding them loving homes.

Despite his rocky start in life, Clarence harbors no ill will. He is gentle and warm-hearted, exemplifying resilience and generosity.

With 2022 as a fresh start, PetSmart Charities encourages commitment to bettering the lives of pets. By collaborating with local organizations, they strive to enhance pet adoption rates, broaden access to veterinary care, and provide disaster relief.

Clarence’s amiable nature extends beyond humans, as he gets along splendidly with other dogs, cats, and children.

“He truly is an angel,” said Cat Suzuki, founder of Hounds In Pounds, in a conversation with The Dodo. “He just craves companionship,” she added, admiringly calling him a “mush.”

Clarence is soon journeying from Georgia to New Jersey to search for his forever home. His rescuers are optimistic that this delightful dog will bring happiness to any family fortunate enough to welcome him.

Suzuki emphasizes that Clarence is best suited for a home with people who are frequently present. “He’s quite easy-going,” she mentioned, suggesting he’d make an ideal companion for a movie night or simply for cuddling up.

Eager to embark on the next chapter of his life, Clarence is ready to wrap his future owner in a loving embrace and, hopefully, receive the same warmth in return.
