As two women drove along a road in Bali, they noticed a dog huddled in a small doghouse in front of an empty villa. Stopping to check on the animal, they realized the poor dog was in terrible condition, appearing malnourished and lacking most of her fur due to severe scabies, which had made her skin scaly and painful.
The women gently approached the dog, offering her food and water. It took them an hour to earn her trust, ensuring she wouldn’t dart into the nearby traffic. When they finally picked her up, they were amazed by how calm she remained, almost as if she understood they were there to help.

After a visit to the vet confirmed her scabies and an eye infection—fortunately easy to treat—the women took her home. In the comfort of their care, both her body and spirit began to heal. They decided to name her Lucy. Her past was unknown, but her future certainly looked bright with the love and care she would receive.
During her recovery, Lucy experienced many “firsts,” including her first visit to a beach and her introduction to walking on grass. She blossomed into a friendly, affectionate dog who adored cuddles and playing with other dogs. Just a month later, Lucy found her forever home with a couple, Matt and Brianna, from Washington D.C.

Reflecting on Lucy’s journey, Brianna shared, “I think given everything that she’s been through, the fact that she’s so sweet and so loving and trusting of us is just miraculous.” Lucy quickly adjusted to her new home, forming a strong bond with her new family. She now enjoys a life full of love and is thoroughly spoiled every day. Her remarkable transformation is something you can see for yourself in the video below, and you can follow her ongoing adventures on Instagram.
