A nine-year-old pit bull named Pebbles, once abandoned by a roadside shed in rural California, is now safe and hopeful for a fresh start. Discovered by a compassionate passerby who alerted local authorities, Pebbles was rescued and brought to the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter (SCCAS).

Upon her arrival at the shelter, staff quickly uncovered her story. Pebbles had been left behind by her previous owner, who, unfortunately, became homeless a year ago. Maria Chomentowski expressed her admiration for Pebbles on Facebook, describer her as “the cutest small dog with the most beautiful deep eyes.” Similarly, Robin Gabriel, another admirer, remarked that Pebbles is “considerably prettier and more lovely in person,” likening her appearance to that of a lovely brown tabby.
