In a heartwarming display of intelligence, a resourceful dog named Negro has discovered a clever way to secure his favorite dog treats by trading leaves.
Negro, a beloved member of the Diversified Technical Education Institute of Monterrey Casanare in Colombia, was adopted by the school staff after being found as a stray.

Enjoying the freedom to roam the school grounds, Negro often received treats from students who frequented a nearby store. However, one day he decided to take matters into his own paws.
Observing the exchange between students and the shopkeeper, Negro astutely grasped the concept: in order to obtain a treat, one must offer something in return.

Armed with this understanding, he arrived at the shop one day with a leaf in his mouth, eagerly seeking a snack.
Teacher Angela Garcia Bernal recounted the charming scene, stating, “One day, spontaneously, he appeared with a leaf in his mouth, wagging his tail and letting it be known that he wanted a cookie.”
The shopkeeper, impressed by Negro’s ingenuity, willingly accepted the leaf as payment for a treat. Gladys Barreto, the shopkeeper, shared, “He comes for cookies every day. He always pays with a leaf. It is his daily purchase.”

Reflecting on Negro’s intelligence, Bernal expressed admiration, saying, “When you first see it, you almost want to cry. He’s found a way to make himself understood. He’s very intelligent.”
Negro’s ability to mimic the behavior of the students demonstrates not only his intelligence but also his adaptability and keen observation skills, endearing him even more to the school community.
