In Tabaida, Tenerife, Spain, a horrific scene unfolded when five dogs were discovered locked in a cave, without food or water.
The Civil Guard made the grim discovery, realizing the dogs had been suffering for quite some time.
They were weak, emaciated, and their ears were severely infested with ticks.

Images from the scene show the five dogs lying listlessly under the intense Canary Island sun. The infection in their ears was appalling, prompting immediate action from the officers. They broke down the fence that confined the dogs and carried them to the Valle Colino Comarcal Shelter.
“It is necessary for the citizen to report all types of animal abuse…it must be ensured that they have sufficient space, adequate nutrition or hydration for as long as necessary,” a shelter spokesperson emphasized. The dogs were starving, dehydrated, and suffering from the tick infestation.

Information suggests the dogs belonged to a local hunter who has been identified and reported to authorities, though the case is still pending. “The regulations for the dignified treatment of animals establish sanctions for people who neglect or mistreat their pets, and also regulates their sale,” the spokesperson added.
Sadly, some people continue to treat animals with indifference, as if they were disposable. But thankfully, there are also compassionate individuals who are willing to help. These are the people whose actions should be celebrated and emulated.

This story serves as a stark reminder of the importance of reporting animal abuse. “Complaint! Our friendly companions from the animal kingdom will thank you,” the spokesperson urged.
Every report can make a difference in the lives of suffering animals. These five dogs are now safe and receiving the care they need, a testament to the power of human compassion.
