Shared by Tom McPhee, Executive Director of the World Animal Awareness Society (WA2S) and the mind behind the American Strays series, the video follows Michigan Humane Society Officers as they respond to reports of dog fighting.

Their cameras capture the moment two pit bulls, used as bait dogs, are discovered in heartbreaking condition.

The footage shows the cruelty these animals endure—broken bones, infected wounds, lips cruelly tied shut, maggot infestations, and severe malnutrition.

These dogs are forced to suffer silently, often left chained in abandoned yards or hidden in parks, out of sight and forgotten.

Jenny Jackson, one of the officers on the scene, explains, “We respond to dog fighting cases all year long. A lot of the street fighters are just kids—tying up pit bulls wherever they can and forcing them to fight.

These dogs are rarely fed properly, cared for, or given shelter. Most of the time, they’re simply abandoned.”

Thanks to the swift action of the Michigan Humane Society and WA2S, the two pit bulls in this footage were rescued and given a second chance. But their story is just one of thousands.

This video serves as a powerful reminder of the cruelty behind dog fighting and the urgent need for tougher penalties to protect these animals worldwide.

While difficult to watch, the video also offers hope—showing the difference that compassion and action can make.
