Nazlı’s Journey: From Fear to Trust

Published on

Nazlı was a fleeting shadow, always running, always afraid. For days, we tried to get close, but each attempt ended in disappointment.

Her instincts, sharpened by hardship, told her to flee. She had never known safety, never felt a gentle touch that didn’t come with pain.

Tranquilizing her wasn’t an option—her fragile body couldn’t handle it.

That meant we had to win her trust, a task more difficult than anything else. Then, one day, she wandered into an abandoned warehouse, exhausted and too weak to keep running.

It was the first sign that she was ready to stop, even if she didn’t yet believe in kindness.

I moved toward her carefully, speaking softly, hoping she would feel my intention. But as soon as my hand reached out, fear overtook her.

She trembled uncontrollably, shrinking away, her small frame shaking so violently that she lost control of her body.

My heart ached for her—this was a dog who had never known comfort, never understood that human hands could offer warmth instead of pain.

Dogs like Nazlı remind us of the purest kind of love—one that is given freely, without calculation or condition.

Despite everything, she still had the capacity to trust; she just needed time. Slowly, she would learn that not all humans turn away.

Caring for her has been a journey of patience, but every step forward is a victory. She is learning, day by day, that safety exists. That love is real. That she is no longer alone.
