A little dog named Truvy went missing nearly a year ago but was recently found living alone by a busy road. Thanks to her microchip, Truvy has now been reunited with her family after a successful rescue.

The story began when Cindy Nash, the founder of Nicholas’ Pet Haven in Texas, received a call about a small dog in distress. A concerned woman noticed the dog had been staying by a major road near a cemetery for nearly a year. Worried the dog might get hurt trying to cross the road, she reached out to Cindy for help.

Cindy and her team wasted no time and headed to the location that same day. While setting up traps to catch the dog, they encountered Dr. Harshivinderjit S. Bains, who had been keeping an eye on the dog, named Truvy. “He told me he really loves that dog and wanted to take her home,” Cindy shared with The Dodo. Dr. Bains had offered Truvy food, water, and warmth in his clinic throughout the harsh winter, though she remained elusive and untouchable.

Later that day, Cindy found Truvy sitting calmly in one of the traps. When Cindy opened the cage, Truvy raced into her lap, surprising Cindy but filling her with joy. Cindy then took Truvy home to clean her fur and prepare her for a vet visit the following day. At the vet’s, they discovered Truvy was microchipped.

This discovery led Cindy to contact Truvy’s family, who were overjoyed to hear she was found. Amy Logan, Truvy’s owner, explained that Truvy had slipped through their fence when they moved to Texas a year ago. The family searched tirelessly, notifying local vet clinics and shelters in hopes of finding her. Thanks to Truvy’s up-to-date microchip information, the reunion was made possible even after 13 months apart.

The happiness was immense as Truvy’s family learned she was safe and sound. Cindy took Truvy back to her family the very next day. “It took her a minute to realize it was her mom. But soon, she relaxed and knew she was home safe,” Cindy recounted.
