Heartwarming Moment: Albino Elephant Enjoys Morning Breakfast with Caregiver

Last Update:

In Africa’s HERD (Hoedspruit Elephant Rehabilitation and Development) sanctuary, a touching scene unfolded as Adine Roode, the caretaker of the elephant orphanage, welcomed a unique addition to the herd.

The orphaned albino calf named Khanyisa was accepted as part of the Jabulani elephant family.

The day started beautifully as Adine guided Khanyisa through her children’s room, with Lammie the elephant tagging along.

They ventured out for a walk, and Adine kindly helped Khanyisa gather fresh grass for breakfast.

The stunning albino elephant relished her meal while leisurely surveying her surroundings.
During their interaction, Adine shared with her fellow caretaker, Herman, that Khanyisa had been sleeping for extended periods.

She also mentioned that the other elephants in the herd were concerned about injuries caused by a bicycle.

Khanyisa, engrossed in her search for food among the lush green grass, seemed uninterested in joining the rest of the herd. It was as if she communicated her preference for munching on weeds.

Eventually, Adine and Herman left the nursery area, and Khanyisa still focused on enjoying the grass rather than venturing into the elephant yard.

She took her time, slowly chewing and walking towards her waiting family members.
