A ginger cat, once characterized by his mournful eyes and a challenging life filled with hardships, has found happiness through love. After waiting for a long time, Nutmeg can finally smile!
Nutmeg, a five-year-old orange tabby, found his sanctuary at Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester. He arrived there scared, severely underweight, and in dire need of care and attention.

“At first glance, Nutmeg appeared to be the saddest cat in the world,” the rescue organization shared with cat enthusiasts.
He was brought to Lollypop Farm in September 2022 as an emaciated stray with a severe nasal condition and an eternally sorrowful appearance.
This resilient feline survived the harshness of life as a stray, but it left him with a permanently somber expression. “His ears were frayed and his face told the story of his struggles,” noted Lollypop Farm.

Recovery was a slow path, but the team at Lollypop Farm was determined to help Nutmeg get back on his feet. He spent some time in an office setting receiving care and learning to trust people once more, thanks to the staff’s patient dedication.
When he was ready, Nutmeg moved to the cat adoption center, where he started mingling with fellow rescue cats. This prepared him for life in a foster home as he continued to wait for a loving forever family.

The happy turn in his story came when, after many months, Nutmeg met a young couple who instantly connected with him.
“Last weekend, after nearly nine months, Nutmeg found his perfect family,” Lollipop Farm shared with Love Meow. “A young couple fell for his unique face and couldn’t resist his charming personality.”

Tyler Stadt recounted to Love Meow, “My girlfriend insisted we visit Lollypop Farm after spotting him online. I was smitten with him at first sight; how could you not be?”
Nutmeg reacted to Tyler with delighted purrs and back scratches, signaling that he was ready to join the couple.
“He’s doing wonderfully,” Tyler told Love Meow. “Nutmeg acclimated quickly and loves lounging in his favorite spot on the couch, soaking up pets.
He is one of the most relaxed cats I’ve ever met, with just a hint of playfulness, and I wouldn’t change a thing.”

Although Nutmeg’s eyes may always carry a trace of sadness, his heart is joyous. He has found his forever home, and now he is as happy as can be!
“Once the saddest cat in the shelter, Nutmeg now wears the tiniest, sweetest smile,” Lollipop Farm shared with cat lovers.

Indeed, Nutmeg has found his smile! 😊
