When his owner noticed that the dog he was raising, Toddy, was injured, he decided to confine him to a secluded space. Believing that Toddy held no value, the owner didn’t want to incur any expenses due to him.
As a result, Toddy was kept in a cage for days, suffering from a significant open wound. This neglect, coupled with unsanitary conditions, led to a severe infection.
Toddy was extremely frail and would become easily agitated. He was unable to stand on his own for more than a few seconds, with troublingly high levels of infection and anemia.
To combat his condition, Toddy was administered potent antibiotics and pain relief medication. Recently, he underwent an X-ray, and we are currently waiting for the results.
His wound required cleaning four times daily, and we had to commence laser therapy without delay to aid the healing process and tackle the infection.
We found ourselves hoping for a miracle, both for Toddy and for ourselves. Such a miracle would allow us to continue rescuing dogs that have suffered mistreatment like Toddy did.
Despite his struggles, Toddy persisted through his infection. He had been brutally attacked by other dogs, and instead of receiving the medical attention he needed, Toddy was cruelly confined to a cage once more.
When we discovered him, Toddy seemed like he was ready to give up. However, his recovery journey took a positive turn. He began to bounce back remarkably well, transforming into an energetic and joyful puppy.
His appetite returned, and he started gaining weight. From that point on, Toddy was released into the safety and freedom of our sanctuary.
Now, Toddy is thriving, exhibiting the energy and vitality of a healthy young dog. He now looks happy and robust, a testament to our efforts being worthwhile.
