A cat named Red narrowly escaped death after unknowingly crawling into a car’s engine compartment in search of warmth.
Unaware of the hidden feline, the car owner started the vehicle and drove off, unknowingly trapping Red inside the engine for nearly an hour.

Red’s desperate attempts to escape went unheard over the noise of the engine. After about 30 minutes of driving, the car owner stopped and was shocked to find the terrified cat tucked under the car hood.
Realizing the situation was serious, the owner immediately contacted the local animal rescue team for help.

Rescuers arrived quickly and carefully dismantled parts of the engine to reach Red, who was badly injured but alive.
The team rushed the cat to a veterinary hospital, where veterinarians discovered severe burns on both of Red’s legs.
Despite their efforts, one leg was too damaged to save and had to be amputated. Red also lost several toes on the remaining leg.
Throughout the recovery process, Red displayed incredible resilience. Touched by the ordeal and the cat’s bravery, the car owner made a life-changing decision—they adopted Red, offering a safe and loving home where he could heal and thrive.

Red’s story is a powerful reminder of the hidden dangers animals face while seeking shelter, especially during colder months.
It also highlights the importance of checking under car hoods before starting the engine to prevent accidents like this.
A simple precaution can help protect vulnerable animals and give them a chance at a better life—just like Red’s.
