In a remarkable turn of events, Taroha’s transportation to safety was facilitated by an unconventional vehicle—the Trust’s JCB backhoe—usually deployed at a nearby construction site.
With gentle care, Taroha was lifted into the backhoe’s bucket and transported to the KWS ranger base at Lake Jipe in Tsavo West National Park.

As nightfall approached, Taroha found temporary shelter at the Voi stockades, where the Voi Keepers warmly received him.
He spent a peaceful night in a cozy stable, surrounded by curious elder orphan elephants who welcomed him into their midst with intrigue.
Taroha’s journey continued as he embarked on the next leg to Nairobi, his new home for the foreseeable future.

Despite initial health setbacks, his arrival was met with optimism, albeit tempered with caution.
He struggled to adapt to his new environment, displaying reluctance towards food beyond milk and greens, leading to a decline in health.
Yet, amidst the challenges, Taroha found an unexpected ally in Mokogodo, the minor orphan at the Nursery, forming an unbreakable bond that became instrumental in his journey.

Taroha’s unique friendship with Mokogodo blossomed as a beacon of hope through his trials. Despite his initial frailty, Taroha gradually gained strength and resilience.
His inclusion in the adoption program was initially met with hesitation due to health concerns. Still, his progress became evident over time, with his slender physique transforming into a sturdy frame.
Today, Tarohaiss is a testament to the power of companionship and resilience, embodying the spirit of hope within the Nairobi Nursery.

His bond with Mokogodo remains unyielding, a symbol of enduring friendship amidst adversity. Taroha’s tale serves as a reminder of the transformative journey from adversity to triumph, inspiring all who encounter it.
