In a serene neighborhood where stray dogs often wander, one pup captured everyone’s attention by sporting a distinctive purple sweater. This particular sighting was anything but ordinary.
The local animal rescuers, accustomed to supporting stray dogs, immediately noticed something was amiss when they observed this young dog not only in a sweater but also with a troubling cough. Typically, they would spay or neuter the dogs and then release them back into the area. However, this pup clearly required additional attention and care.
Beatriz Ordaz, a dedicated animal rescuer, stepped forward to provide shelter and treatment for the puppy, whom she affectionately named Catalina the Great. Beatriz welcomed Catalina into her home, determined to help her recover with the necessary medical care and affection.
Under Beatriz’s attentive care, Catalina began to improve. Beatriz remained vigilant, following a rigorous treatment regimen to ensure Catalina’s full recovery. She shared with The Dodo, “My son and I give her nebulization treatments. She’s doing better, but she still doesn’t have a family.”
While Catalina’s past remained a mystery, her behavior suggested she once had a home. Her fondness for climbing onto the couch and interacting with others indicated she had been a cherished pet at some point. “She definitely lived in a house before, as she loves climbing up on her couch. She’s a dog who loves to socialize with people,” Beatriz noted.
Catalina’s friendly nature and deep trust are typical of many stray dogs that have faced abandonment without cause. Beatriz and her neighbors have banded together to show her the love and care she deserves.
“I hope in my heart that someone gives this girl a chance. As of now, I’m waiting for her to recover 100 percent from her respiratory illness,” Beatriz expressed.
Recognizing Catalina’s attachment to her purple sweater, Beatriz chose to let her keep it on, knowing it provided warmth and comfort, and made Catalina feel safe and content.
Currently, while Catalinas forever home remains uncertain, Beatriz continues to nurture her with love and attention. What matters most is that Catalina is now in a safe environment, surrounded by people who remind her daily of her worth and importance.
