Who can resist a dog’s joyful grin and enthusiastic tail wag? The answer is simple: no one, including the caring rescuers who encountered Professor Plum, an abandoned Pit Bull mix left tied to a tree in St. Louis, Missouri. Once confined by a troubled past, this exuberant pup couldn’t contain his joy when he realized life was finally looking up.
Stray Rescue of St. Louis is known for its compassionate efforts, consistently bringing warmth and hope to countless rescue stories. Faced with challenging situations daily, the team approached this day with the same dedication. Upon receiving a tip about a dog left tethered in the city, they sprang into action.

As they reached the scene, they anticipated a difficult rescue, but what they encountered was surprising. The dog’s response was nothing short of grateful. “This pup was tied up outside. As we approached him, he seemed to say ‘oh thank goodness, yes come help me! I’m all by myself! I’m just a baby boy!'” shared the rescue team on Facebook.
Barely a year and a half old, the young Pittie was still just a puppy, eagerly awaiting assistance. When help arrived, his enthusiasm was palpable. He greeted his rescuers with gentle eyes and an excited tail wag, expressing his readiness to be loved.
The day’s surprises didn’t end there. Named Professor Plum, the pup found a foster home within hours of his rescue. Following a quick evaluation, he was given the all-clear for foster care, which fell into place almost immediately.

Arriving at his foster home turned out to be a remarkable moment. Much to everyone’s delight, Professor Plum was reunited with Barb Kumar, his foster mom from his puppy days. Barb had nurtured him and his sister when they were just weeks old. This unexpected reunion was filled with affection, and though his sister wasn’t there, he was welcomed by two other foster siblings.
Embraced by his new foster family, Professor Plum couldn’t be happier, with the promise of new adventures ahead. After enduring previous hardships, he now relishes the security and affection surrounding him.
Professor Plum is currently adapting to his new environment and meeting prospective adopters. As time passes, it’s clear that this friendly dog will soon find his forever home—a place filled with comfort and love. Stay tuned for this promising chapter in his life!
